Sriracha Rap, Supa Hot, and the Whole Foods Parking Lot – Turning that frown upside down
It’s just one of those dock dang days, ya know?
I wouldn’t even bore you with it if I could – but I’ll tell you what I’ve done to make it better: I called my mom. After listening to me “wahhhh” for a little bit, she encouraged me to see the sunny side of life. “Count my blessings”, if you will.
So, I took a walk through the alleyways of my working ‘hood and bought myself an iced tea. I tried to think hard about the things I should be grateful for (that I have working arms and legs, that thenhuman centipede isn’t real, that my face isn’t permanently stuck like this) – but that storm cloud seemed hard set on following me around all day so I turned to the one thing that never fails to solve my saddies: Comedic Rap – a la:
Fog and Smog‘s “Whole Foods Parking Lot” brought to mind another video I’d been going crazy for last week.
If you haven’t seen it yet, I present to you THE SRIRACHA RAP:
That’s doubtlessly the best thing I’ve seen in weeks, and probably deserves its own blog post if not its own holiday. But who has the time to petition for Sriracha Rap video day on Capitol Hill? Wait… does Canada have Capitol Hill or is that an exlusively American thing? Meh. No time to Google that. I’m too busy turning that magical sauce into perfume.
Also of note is This Rap Battle parody. It made me LOL a whole bunch of times. It also made me Google “Rap Battles in Toronto” (I’ve ALWAYS got time to Google rap-related things. Priorities, ya know?).
I could totally bomb one of these battles with my video camera, right?
Last but not least, I asked my Tweeps what THEY do to cheer up on crummy days and the response was astounding. I think, in terms of real engagement, that Twitter is my strongest channel of outreach. *Shoots self in the face for using the words engagement and outreach in an otherwise only semi-douchey blogpost*.
The following are but a few of the many glorious happy-boosting things suggested to me:
Oolong the rabbit, Taking a walk outside (a personal favourite), The Price is Right theme song, Sleep and Tosh, Booster Juice and Reddit, MY TWEETS and David`s Tea, Ice cream, Sushi and cute animals.
Many suggested puppies, hugs, tea and shopping; Choices as obvious as they are effective. Brigid put forth my personal favourite (aside from this one) here:
On a completely unrelated note, I cut together this video for my Daddy last night – only two days late. It will probably be boring for you, so don`t watch it. I am including it for archive’s sake (I want to be able to look back on these posts when I’m 180 and remember what my life was like. That’s the whole point of blogging, right?
I`m out. Podcasting time with the VinylCountdown boys. Must bite tongue HARD…
LLLOYYYYD BRAWWWWN!!!!
