Back, Bay-BEE!

I’ve been putting this off for a while now. Citing ‘not enough time’ as my reason for pushing back the opening of this here website. Now, my summer job is finished, my house hunt is complete, and my important appointments are out of the way. My scholarship applications, resume spewing, and post-grad research is (relatively) under control and life is finally starting to slow down. The most pressing thing on my mind for these last two weeks of summer before school beings are going to be co-ordinating my yoga, aerobics, reading and back to school shopping schedules – unless something comes up (as it inevitably will – it always does).

I’ve been trying to import my old blog entries with no success. I lost all of the ones from when I was in Sweden (foreignlauren was fun while it lasted…) and the nakedbarbies.net archives are scattered and disorganized and I’m not feeling the ‘copy and paste’ thing. So I’m starting fresh. Right fresh. It’s kind of unnerving to just post a blog like this without the five years of blogging behind it that I’m used to… but it’s liberating too.  I’d like to think that the little girl from nakedbarbies.net is gone, but I know that she will always be a part of who I am now and who I will become in the future. So, while I considered posting the archives in a file on their own, I think that I will e-retire that part of me and bury those blogs and photos deep in my external hard-drive (possibly busting out some old pieces occasionally for comedic purposes :p).  There is a Chinese proverb that I love which goes :

“The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.”

So, cheers to now – and to the next five years. And cheers to NB and Folau and Tequila Barbie and Sin O’Nizzle and every stupid web site, blog and alter-ego that’s helped my electronic self become who she is today. And cheers to proverbs and all sorts of vernacular English – both of which will be overused in this blog.
